How much does a website cost?
Everything is flat-rate and quoted upfront — no hourly billing, no surprise invoices. A Starter site is $999, Growth is $1,999, and a full eCommerce build starts from $3,500, all one-time. Government and contractor engagements are scoped separately, typically from $4,000. You'll know the full price before any work begins. See full pricing.
How fast can you build it?
Fast — without cutting corners. After a short discovery call, you'll see a homepage design within about 48 hours. From there, a Starter site is typically live in around 7 days, Growth in about 10, and a full store in about 14. We hold to the timeline we give you.
Do I actually own my website?
Completely. When we hand it over, the code, the content, and the domain are all yours — no lock-in, no proprietary platform, no monthly ransom to keep it online. You're free to host it anywhere and edit it yourself whenever you like.
Do you use templates?
Never. Every Pale Blue site is built from scratch around your business — no themes, no drag-and-drop page builders, no site that looks like your competitor's down the street. The result looks like you, and only you.
Can't I just build a site myself with one of those website builders?
You can — and for some businesses that's the right call. But the tool is the easy part. Someone still has to write the copy, make the design judgments, set up the domain and email, and keep it all working — and with a builder, that someone is you, every month, for as long as the site exists. Our model is the opposite: you pay a flat rate once, we handle all of it, and you walk away owning the finished site outright — files that run anywhere, no subscription required. If you'd rather run your business than build websites, that's the difference.
What does it cost to keep the site running after launch?
Very little, and we're upfront about it. The only real costs are third-party: a domain runs about $15–20 a year, hosting is often free, and SSL is included. There's nothing you owe us to keep the site live. If you'd rather not touch it, our optional Care Plan ($149/mo) covers updates, security, backups, and edits — but it's never required.
Can you make my site accessible, or Section 508 compliant?
Accessibility is built in by default — every site is made to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, not bolted on at the end. For government, public-sector, and regulated work, we also offer formal Section 508 / WCAG conformance, including testing and documentation, as a scoped add-on. More on accessibility.
Is my website secure?
Security is built into how we build, not bolted on at the end. Every Pale Blue site is static — no database, no CMS, no plugins, no admin login — so there's far less to attack than a typical WordPress or page-builder site: nothing to SQL-inject, no plugin vulnerabilities, no login to brute-force. Every build ships over HTTPS with hardened headers and minimal dependencies. No one can honestly call a site unhackable, and we don't control your hosting, email, or passwords — but a static site is one of the most secure foundations you can launch on. See the full infrastructure behind every build. (We build securely; we don't offer audits, monitoring, or penetration testing.)
